We assume that the anchoring of sustainability-related subjects requires codetermination within the company in order to be effective: Trade unions, works councils and employee representatives on supervisory boards have to accept the challenge of "sustainability" in order to be able to shape it in an economic, social and ecological way. The aim of the research project reaches beyond the previous sustainability discourse by not only examining the significance of sustainability in companies (supply and disposal industry, metal and electrical industry and chemical industry) and its concrete implementation, but also by focusing on the anchoring of sustainability and examining it on an interdisciplinary approach: A complex analysis can be accomplished with a business perspective, an occupational science perspective and a vocational education perspective.
